ITINERARY OF THE MOUNTAIN BIKE JOURNEY
Arriving near Maribor (second largest city in the country) and accommodation in B & B.
According to arrival time, visits of areas surrounding Maribor.
Pohorje chains (Maribor – Rogla)
We take the cable car to 1050m where we start our hike with the mountain bikes.
We travel the massif from east to west, passing through beautiful forests of spruce and fir. We discover along the way a few waterfalls and lakes.
We arrive near Rogla (1500m) where we spend the night.
45 Km, + 1100m
Slovenj Gradec (koča pod Kremarjevim vrhom)
We start from an altitude of 1200m, and continue crossing the Pohorje chains westward. We arrive at 1000m altitude near Slovenj Gradec, a small town of less than 10,000 inhabitants, where the chain ends and the Pohorje Karavanke chains begin.
45 Km, + 800m;
Črna na Koroškem, Mežica
This path leads us to the underground path of Peče (5 Km), we will travel with headlamps. This former lead and zinc mine has been redeveloped into a museum and biking paths.
Mountain bike trail 50 Km, + 1200m
Bled – Pokljuka
Vehicle transfer to Bled, the pearl of the Julian Alps, with its castle, its lake and its island in the center. We stop for a swim, then we go to the Pokljuka plateau. We will sleep in a tourist farm.
45 Km, + 1500m
Bohinj and tour of Ljubljana
We continue west and descend to the Bohinj Valley and the beautiful Lake Bohinj. Picnic and swimming at the lake bod.
In early afternoon we transfer to the capital. We discover the city of Ljubljana with its many bike trails, allowing a pleasant and safe visit.
